HI All.
have been reading your posts for the past few weeks whilst waiting for my r1150r to turn up. Its finally here.
This is my first bmw after many years on v-twins and straight 4's.
I would appreciate any hints and tips on keeping on the road as I havnt a clue on machanical things.
Many Thanks.

Start by browsing the FAQ section. Many smart guys have contributed good tips. Consider buying a Haynes or Clymers manual - worth the cost. Invest in proper tools - ditto value to cost ratio.

Generally, fluid changes, air system, valves and throttle bodies are simpler to maintain than on V's and I-4's. Electrical is simple and straightforward.

Welcome, happy rides and best good fortune to you.

Its like another, similar, physical activity....

Ride it at least once a day and you will never have any problems. Let it set idle for any length of time and you're asking for trouble.
