?black paint? on engine cases

Post by bubbac45 »

Just bought a 2004 ed 80 in Florida the ?paint ? is faded on the transmission case, but paint on rear drive is ok .
Is there a cure? or "forget about it"
I added peg lowering, a higher BMW r1150 r bar, and a touring wind shield and did a 5,500 miles camping tour (TAMPA GILLETTE Wy. ) What a great touring bike.
Thanks

whoa, that;s not bad! solo?

what time of year and your general route? did you go I 10 and then up or ???

I just did a 4700 mile camping tour to Colorado--got as far as about 100 mi north of Grand Junction and already planning next year's jaunt

and yes, they are great touring bikes.

Hey Good Dr. Strangelove
sorry for the long delay.
Congratulations impressive miles
You have us thinking thinking about Colorado for '09
I err we travelled (E was on her F650 1998) during the month of July as directly as possible from Tampa to the Grand Canyon.
Then "wandered" up the back roads to Gillette for the MOA and then over to Yellowstone and back down to Tucson.
Time was running out, so we left the bikes in storage (Thanks Iron Horse BMW, Tucson) and flew back to Tampa.
And we are now planning 09 from Tucson to?????

We both enjoy this ride camp ride repeat (ahh time for a motel) type of holiday and find the bikes ideal for wanderin' around.
Will add small things "BIG thanks R1150R forums" (hand guards, sheep skin pad etc ??Zumo??) but basically they are great bikes.
Happy planning
