Telelever - Help Needed Finding Replace't Black Plastic Cap

Post by tuglaw »

I'm missing this cap on the right side of my '04 R1150R. Besides asking my dealer, any suggestions on a good source? I found this steel/alum. aftermarket cap for $47 http://www.ascycles.com/images/products/0/0290.jpg, but I'm hoping for just the black plastic stock cap. Thanks. [My first post here - hope I did it semi-correctly - could not find this after searching existing posts]

+1 on Beemerboneyard & the plastic ones. Too much aftermarket stuff isn't that cool anyway, and the $40+ you save is good for an afternoon ride's worth of gas.

Many thanks for the replies! With the part number and description in hand, I Googled and found an old post on this site (!) http://www.r1150r.net/board/viewtopic.p ... &sk=t&sd=a that also cautioned to get the accompanying O-Ring (so the cap stays on). Beemer Boneyard did not seem to stock but I found the parts listed here:

http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com
http://www.ascycles.com
http://www.chicagobmwmotorcycle.com

Max BMW's shipping was a tad cheaper than A&S Cycles so I went with them (unfortunate with WWW shopping that shipping can sometimes be more costly than the parts themselves, but at least this is done now, assuming the parts are in stock). Found Chicago BMW after the fact, so don't know what their shipping cost would have been.

31422314304 Covering Cap $2.00
31422314981 O-Ring $1.84
Shipping $7.95. Ouch.

Thanks again for your quick responses.

Call Marvin at Holt BMW in Athens, OH. He will put it in the mail within 24 hours and you will have it by next weekend.

You could also ride there to pick it up. It would be a real fun ride from Pittsburgh.
