Tail bags...low profile,clean looking tail bag

Thanks for the response regarding the Kriega bag. I've seen the bag on many sport bikes, but never saw a pic of it fastened to the seat of an RR. Looks very nice, and looks pretty simple to attach/detach. After reading that review, I can understand why the reviewer thinks that the strap retainers should be standard instead of sold separately.

That bag looks nice and simple. My only concern would be it's ability to keep out water. It doesn't rain a lot where I'm from, but when it does, it can rain like there's no tomorrow. I think the Kriega might better suit my needs in that department, and also it's modular ability to attach to smaller kriega bags. I'm thinking about a US-30 or US-40. Depending on the amount of clothes or crap that I need to take with me, I can change my bags without much fuss.

Also, that Kwikover looks like a pretty useful tool. I'll have to do a bit of searching on that.

I have the Held Iconic. Run the straps under the rear seat panel (no seat but would work the same). I really like it. Expands as needed and came with a rain cover.

Raincover is available for a few bucks. Works well, packs small. The Kwikover gets used about every time I go anywhere on the bike. One of the most useful things on the bike. www.kwikover.com

I like the 19 Ltr tail bag from BMW which easily can be attached to seat or to the tail trey.

That is the one I have...I love it. I also have a little ATV tank bag that I use as a tail pack, I got it at a discount store for $5. It is my day to day bag - not waterproof but I just put my things in a ziplock bag.

I typically only put on the hard bags when I am travelling. The 19 litre bag is great for longer day trips when I need to carry more stuff and I don't want the hard bags on (they make my bike's ass look fat )

I got the idea for using the Pelican case from this forum, thanks friends. Mine is the 1400 case, bolted to a cleat under the package rack. The cable lock provides a little security and can serve as a helmet lock.

I'm just about to do that same thing (with a Pelican 1450, though - $80.00 off during boxing week, yay!).

I am interested in the Kwikover, notice you have yours mounted to the back of your tail bag, don't suppose you have any photos of it deployed over your R12R? Sure would be interested in seeing how it covers the R12R, I am running the OEM BMW sport screen, do you think it would cover it as well?

Like Lumpy I have the Kriega US-20 (the 10 too) and I love it.
It looks great on the bike, is small enough to tote around on your shoulder all day yet big enough to carry everything I need (gym clothes, shoes, lunch, disc lock, camera and a book or two).

Mine is usually found on the luggage rack with some custom straps to keep it in place.
The straps are reflective and are available at rei. There's nothing wrong with the straps that come with the bag, I just prefer the reflective ones...

Sadly, I don't have much for pictures.
Just this one old image of the bike with the Kriega stuffed like a pig. I probably had two changes of clothes in there...

Sure do.. and yes it will easily cover the sport screen (it stetches a LOT - it covers my Cee-Bailey 22" screen..)





I use it all the time - so it gets a LOT of use (it's used for 8.5 hours a day when parked outside at work from early April to late November). I seem to go through one in about a year -- year and a half. Considering it's protecting a tail-bag, a tank-bag, a Sargent seat and my GPS from sun damage or sticky fingers - it's worth every penny it costs (well - it's about 7,000 pennies - but you get my drift.) Good thing. I highly recommend it. Just not coming out to the bird poop on the paint makes it worth it to me

Thanks Don. Yes it looks like just the ticket for me. I'll get my order in while it is still cold and raining and have it for the spring rides.
