I am type A personality. I know where all my tools are and have had most of them over 30 years. P/M is fun.
After working for Nissan for 16 years in parts dept., I got used to people asking for "the spinning thing that hooks up to something black". "Just ask the right questions" was my mantra
So, I look up his part # on net first, Know my bike's pro date, keep to the point, smile and answer with yes, no only.
There is a great fishe link on ascycle.com
Also, use a/m parts from A&S cycle whenever possible to avoid stealership.
If anybody knows of a good BMW bike dealership that can sell parts online like TisherBMW for cars, their prices are lower too. Please lemme know.
If you break down on the road in the boonies, have a good dealership parts dept # in your cell, one that knows how to ship fedex next day.
When I rode Honda, I knew their rectifier/reg is a weak spot , so i always carried a spare.
Now that i ride RTP1100 I will always carry spare alt belt, fuses, tire plug kit and toolkit on trips.

Thanks for the tip on Tisher BMW... I looks like their website is getBMWparts.com. I also have a BMW car and will be using them for parts in the future.
I also like Bavarian Auto Parts (bavauto.com). I've ordered from them and I've always been impressed.
