Fuel strip problem strikes early

Post by sjarrell »

Picked up a brand new R1200R a few days ago. Filled up today for the first time and the fuel gauge never moved. The low fuel light is still on, and the computer says I have anywhere between 5 miles and 100 miles to go (it varies from minute to minute) before I run out of gas.

Amazing...

give it a few days sometimes it resets itself and then works again, but otherwise its under warranty let the dealer replace it
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects handlebars to the saddle.

When I refill mine, it sometimes takes several miles before it registers a full tank. If I refill close to home, it may not show until I start out the next day and even then not immediately. I'd give it a few days and see how it goes. I also monitor the trip meter for fill ups, because of the fuel strip issue. :)

I have been watching mine closely and at 3k it is still working. It does take about 5 minutes after a fill up to fully register but it has always done that since day one so I consider that normal.

It takes a few minutes for mine to register full after filling up.

I had about a 50 mile ride home and it never reset, and I turned it off and on once just to see if that would help. I'm afraid it's going to have to go back in. Oh well... that's what warranties are for!
