Hi everyone, new here, but paid up 'lifer' :-)
... just waiting on Doug to issue my # :-))
Have the "issue" with my RT below posted to 'OBB' - maybe I have it in the wrong 'forum'? So posting here as well ...
***
I own a 2001 R1150RT (120,000+/- kms), which up until a few months ago, has been ever so reliable and a pleasure to own
... didn't miss a beat or use a drop of oil across the Nulla and back last March/April :-)
It has however the past three or so months taken to chugging/stuttering and at worst conking out while stationary at lights, sometimes even conking out while changing down gears (2nd-1st) before coming to a stop - slightly scary when trying to brake, watch traffic and attempt to keep it running all at the same time! :-( I'm having to falsely hold the revs up to 1500-2000, just to keep it from stalling! :-( This issue only occurs when the bike is totally warm/hot, at five/six bars
It's just had it's major 120,000 service (with BMW Motorad Southbank) and we were all hopeful that during that service, it's "issue" would also have been taken care of, as the techs weren't able to find fault with it prior to this major service (tech did take it for a good 40min ride prior to service, had it nice and 'hot', didn't stall on him once). It's also had the coil replaced and TPS.
Read with interest Spiney's post (link below) and wondered if my bike's issue is related ...?

Looking fwd to hearing from any other R1150RT owners who have experienced same/similar problems with theirs, and how to get it fixed.
Love my bike, but she's not happy and is not a pleasure to go for a ride at the moment - obviously :-(

Re: Stalling while stationary ...
Have there been any incidents of there being a vacuum in the tank when you fuel up. My bike did a similar thing and i found that my vent line from the tank was intermittantly blocked. causes starving for fuel when warm.
Re: Stalling while stationary ...
When is the last time you changed the fuel filter? Can you hear the fuel pump (is it louder than normal?

Re: Stalling while stationary ...
Hi guys, appreciate the replies
About a week ago, she had her 120,000km major service, inclusive of fuel filter change, spark plugs leads etc etc ... so I think that's crossed off the list
However, the tank vent line could be a possibility, as the stalling ONLY happens when she's warm/hot (eg. stationary - waiting for traffic lights to change and/or ocassionally changing down gears) ... will ask my local mechanic if it's an easy locate and fix ...
Have since re-found the previous owner, waiting for him to return my call - just want to know if this problem happened with him too, and how to fix it.
Getting a little desperate for answers ... can you tell?
Thanks again guys

Perhaps a vacuum leak on the intake. The high idle RPM indicates to me a vacuum leak. Check the vacuum lines on the bottom of the TB, if the canister is still there check all of those lines (as a check pull the vacuum line from each TB and replace with a rubber cap). Could also be the O-ring between the TB and head. I have heard that the adaptor between the TB and head warps from heat over time.

How old is the battery? Just another possibility. But my guess is that a cannisterctomy will fix your problem.
