TB Sync spec?

Post by ben73 »

Hi Guys,

I have a digital differential manometer I use to sync bike carbs.

I haven't been able to find a published spec for the R1150R.
One of my Hondas is supposed to have the carbs adjusted to within 1.6" Hg. I've got the 1150 showing about 0.5"Hg at 3000 rpm which I'm sure is acceptable, but I'd still love to know what the manufacturer considers to be acceptable.

Any clues?

I go by RPM. Set it up @ around 1100 RPM idle with both sides equal.
Then make sure they're equal @3000 RPM. Done.
1/2 inch of mercury doesn't tell you much about the way the motor is running.
I use a twinmax set at max sensitivity. Never bothered to look at the numbers.
I just want the needle to be steady in the middle at high rpm. At low RPM the needle swings more but equality is key.

I use a simple analogue manometer ( length of clear tubing cable-tied to a length of ally half filled with 3-1 oil). I can generally get the tickover balance to within less than a cm using the BBBA screws, then rev the bike to around 3-4000 to check the throttle cable balance, and then adjust on the RHcable adjuster.

The spec is 15 millibar, which is 0.44"Hg., or 6"of water.
