Angry NOTICE "fudge" FOR BMW R 1200 R - It affects us TODOSSSSSSSS

I have a BMW R1200R, and for certain circumstances discussed in another topic, today I opened the gas cap, unscrewed the lid, then I also unscrew the red inner tube and SORPRESAAAAAA!

We have lots of rusty scale at the bottom of these pieces and the rubber seal that goes under all of them.



I think it's horrific botched the "artist" who designed this tank.

In the bottom of the tank filler hole, we are creating a crusty layer that can cause rust resitual affects the rubber gasket that makes us out to us gasoline, etc. In this hole is going depositing water and dust which all, once the water will evaporate leaving the said hole in a series of sediments which result in a crust and disgusting roñoza affecting the rubber, the holes overflow and breather, I think.



The fact is that these bikes that I know of, retain water and all the garbage that comes with it, then this crust is formed that affects the joints and material status. How are you bikes are made in series, this problem is all.

I advise taken into account as soon as possible and clean and periodically thereafter, in our maintenance plan.

Problem: it is very easy to clean dirt we fall into the tank. I've thought about vacuum cleaners, sealing the container, and do not know what else. I'll see what I do once I think.

Clean it out, then check out the ABDECKRING tank cover from the S1000RR. It fits the 2007-2010 R12Rs.

Many of us are very familiar with the problem, and have done some remedial steps to keep it from getting worse, or fromt happening. As Bill showed - there is a BMW part that will seal this cavity... and I'd suggest some rust treatment before using the seal. There is a rather long detailed thread on this problem (along with photos and suggestions) if you care to search a bit.

yep...BMW dropped the ball on this one. If nothing else the problem should have been noted and perhaps advice examining, cleaning, and an oil or grease to address the problem. A tank is $1200.00 new ...almost ten percent of the total cost of the bike.
