I went for a ride this morning and as usual when I get on the highways I step through the Info. (average speed, fuel consuption, etc) I saw that it was reading as usual (about 64km/h).
When I got to my next town I checked it again and it read 0km/h. see picture. According to BMW I have done 11444km at 0km/h average. LOL
Has anyone else had this type of problem? My bike is only 18 months old and has done 11444km.
so let me understand this. when I hold down the Info button the average speed is reset. So then it starts counting from that point onwards?
That is just dumb. so for the first 11444km my averge is 0km/h and then it will start to work it out again>
so my average speed will be 0km/h then 1km/h then 2km/h as I put more km on the bike because it takes the total km into account. Not logical at all. why would there be a reset for that calculation anyway.
When the counter is reset, it very very quickly - a second or so - returns to essentially current speed (and fuel consumption's the same), as the average since the reset (when you're moving) approaches current speed.
The readout should only reset when you push the button; it should not reset itself, even when the bike is turned off and the key removed.

Yes, everything starts over when reset, so your last 11444km does not count. I often reset both the average speed and average mpg. For example if I am going on a weekend trip to the Adirondacks I reset both when leaving home and then I can see what my average speed and mpg was for that particular trip. It continues to show the average speed and mpg until reset, then all calculations start over from scratch.
And yes dbrick is right, it only takes seconds to update once you start moving after the reset.

Thanks guys.
I finally managed to get the computer to start calculation the average speed again.
I had to reset it two to three times before it started working correctly again.
