Wayne ,
Just saw this post and backtracked a little good to hear your health is on the mend. I have friend in Florida that has a small machine shop in his garage and has made all kinds of motorcycle accessories, the shifter mod is right up his alley and he is very reasonable in fact dirt cheap. If you have any issues modifying the shifter let me know and I will connect the pair of you. Look at the old Honda trail 70s,90s ect. they had a shifter that might give you some design ideas. Good Luck , God Bless
Mike

Mike--thanks! There is a small machine shop 5 minutes from the house and actually we talked last year about a shifter. I put the idea aside for a while thinking my bike was going to have to find a new home. My better half has been wanting me to sell the bike but all that has changed. I'm going to ride again, probably not as much as I once did but I will ride consistently. My foot muscles are still weak but they're improving. I think the machine shop owner and I are going to have another conversation! If we don't come up with something I will pm you.captaincable wrote:Wayne ,

Wayne - was reminded of a guy from the BadWeb Buell board who had a sophisticated shift system to accommodate a left foot injury. Note the comments by "Diablobrian" in the following link topic:

He references this company's shift system:

Thanks for the link. I had once thought about something similar but had set it aside due to the cost of those systems. I may rethink that some. If I could find an affordable basic solenoid I can fab the rest. OK---more planning to do!

Wow! That's great news, Wayne. I'm so happy for you! It has been a long time, though, and may I suggest before you do any serious unwinding of the roads to check your antifreeze, 3 years and it has to be exhausted!
Godspeed, Wayne.

I've been very diligent in my antifreeze maintenance. I change it every spring. I've found though the stuff BMW recommends is pretty difficult to find locally so actually I've been using Prestone with good results. On the picture---I plan to take it out again soon and I'll get a friend to take a shot of me, maybe even a short video clip.Dr. Strangelove wrote:Wow! That's great news, Wayne. I'm so happy for you!
