New Bike is waiting for Me !
Put a deposit on a 90th Anniverary R12R !
I spoke with 5 dealers, Max BMW was by far easiest and best to work with ! The only rub is I will ride 10 hours to their Troy, NY store to make the trade and pick up the new bike. I suppose that by the time I get home Friday night bike will be ready for first service.
I will report back on the pick up and ride home experience !

Bradkap. I don't know you, but I live 50 miles from the Troy store. If you need a place to stay overnight, or whatever, I might be able to assist. It depends on whether your clean or not
But really, if you need any help with the transaction post up.

Bob, your offer is very kind. I will use my hotel points and stay near the airport. Swing by Max Friday am and introduce yourself !

Make your first stop a gas station.
Something I always wanted to do is pick up a bike and drive it a few days home.
Enjoy the ride.

Congrats on you new purchase! It's quite a bike. I think you'll end up being glad you had the 10 hour ride. I had a similar experience a few years back. It was a great way to say "good bye" to my old bike and "hello" to the new one.

Bradkap, Do you have any specific time you expect to be at Max tomorrow?
Re: New Bike is waiting for Me !
I will be going right by today on my way to NH on route 7. It will be after lunch though.
Enjoy the new bike!

Re: New Bike is waiting for Me !
The big news is that Brad has a new bike and he's on the road home. Yes, he actually rode 10 hours for the benefits you get with Max BMW. I went for my 50 mile ride to visit with him while the service guys switched over his gear from his trade in (F800GT). This is one of those deals where you can say 'pics or it didn't happen', so let's see what Brad bought:
First, here's my bike in front of Max's Troy NY store:

Here are a couple of shots of Brad and the new prize. The bike is a beautiful metalic black and stunning in the sun!:

Stand by for Brad's report following his break in ride. Fun to meet someone from the list and I hope to be able to do this again some time.

OMG, yur lucky you were not killed, cut up and stuffed in a series of cardboard boxes. What kind of fool meets people from an internet forum?Bob Ain't Stoppin' wrote: Fun to meet someone from the list and I hope to be able to do this again some time.
BTW, nice pics and a sweet look'n new scoot for the Brad boy

All
Big thank you to Bob ! He not only helped memorialize the event, he waited with me for hours while the shop did their magic !
I rode west on Rt. 20, great road and nice alternative to I-90 ! Lots of NY State Troopers though. But I was in a break in and rode conservatively; NOT ! I stayed on 20 until I was about 100 miles out of Buffalo. I then jumped on 90 so I could get to my hotel in Cleveland by 10.
I will return as the towns along the Finger Lkes are great.
The R12R rode great ! Very smooth. No ESA, but as others have stated probably not necessary.
My seating position was more upright as I had the shop put on some MV bar risers. I also have the high seat. After 5 hours I was ready to take breaks. The test will be how I feel in the am. 5 more hours to home and I will be ready for the first service.
I really like the 1200 and how it delivers power so effortlessly. The balance of this BMW is so good, I am looking forward to riding some twisties !
Next week I will put a Madstad windscreen on as I then depart for Iowa and the Ozarks !
That's it for now ! More later !

Nice looking bike.
I did go by Maxes but they were closed. I got delayed as usual. Going in to work for "Just an Hour" does not happen. I was hoping to run into you folks.
OH well, I did go from Medina to Marblehead MA friday, then came home Sunday through NH and vermont on the back roads. 1050 miles in 3 days. Nothing but a good ride.
Enjoy your new bike. We should go riding some time. You too Bob aint stoppin!
I kinda know my way around the finger lakes and really know my way around the adirondacks.
Anyone can join me.
