Cee Bailey Sport Shield cracking / locktite damage!

I run this shield during the winter. Coming off it's second winter I notice cracking/crazing around the lower mounting holes. Maybe my mounting screws were too tight, too loose? Maybe riding at 80 MPH into our 40 MPH Spring winds put too much stress on that area.

I sent an email to Cee Baileys last week...no reply to date.

I have a set of Cee Bailey's head light protectors on my 2013 FJR. Last weekend something hit the right side and shattered the protector into three pieces; the light lens is undamaged. (I know, not a BMW, but it happened on the way to a BMW event ) I sent Cee Bailey a picture and asked if I could buy just the one side. I had a response in a few hours saying that if I would provide a mailing address they will send me a new set at no charge, including shipping. Had the protectors not been installed I would likely have needed a new headlight unit at $668. You cannot ask for more.

My bike has worn a Cee Bailey 16" on the BMW tall bracket since early 2011. I found the bracket used, and between being (I think) damaged before I got it and being bent by me so it'd fit with the Don C block, it's twisted a bit. Each time the screen is dismounted (after a long ride, there's nothing quite so easy as cleaning the bugs off after it's spent an hour soaking in the hot tub), I have to use some force in order to get it seated on its four posts. I keep waiting for crazing or cracking, but so far it hasn't.

Ammolab, sorry to hear about the cracking screen. 80mph into 40mph winds? That's a stout spring breeze. Please keep us posted as to how that turns out for you. Fingers crossed.
Sounds like CeeBailey's gave excellent service to MTBeemer. Good to hear such reviews from satisfied customers. Guard saved you an expensive repair bill.
I usually drape a dripping wet microfiber towell over the screen for a while to loosen up the dried bugs. Works for me.

2 Emails to Cee Baileys with no response...first email 12 Days ago. Will fax them a note tomorrow!

They did respond to my fax...said it was Loctite damage. Could be: I read the instructions the first time I mounted it.("no Loctite")...last year, NOPE! Did use Loctite!

They will give me 30% off a new sheild.... I think I will go for that.

Interesting. I've never used Loctite - never felt the need. I've never seen any sign of the screws loosening up.. very few things do on the R12R.. (unlike my old British bikes that used to go down the road shedding parts/license-plates/oil/etc..)
