yellowjacket,
I'm heading off to work now, perhaps I'll get a chance to check it out for you there. I clicked on the first link you posted, it took me to an old site page which had a link. I clicked on that and it took me to a page of Adventure Rider. I clicked on that and "Oilhead Valve Adjustment for Dummies" downloaded on my desktop. Looks pretty good. It did it in a "pdf" format. Now I'm using a Mac, at work I have Windows 98. I give it a try there and let you know what happens.
There are a lot of good people who know a whole bunch more about computers than I do who will chime in to assist as well. If you let us know what system you are using that may help. "whaycock" does have some good stuff on his site, you will find him very helpful as well. He's a good guy. Perhaps just e-mailing him directly - [email protected]?
If all else fails, I can just copy and paste the stuff into word for you, or even just into your e-mail message if you are having a problem with an attachment.

Well, I'm at "work" and I checked the links. The first one is blocked by my school district and the ones which link to Bill's site go there, but there is nothing there except pictures of his different trips.
When I'm back home, I'll make sure you get a version which works for you.
No sweat,
Frank
PS, If you get one from someone else ahead of time, just let me know.

Yellowjacket,
It'd be hard to get further away from the Blue Ridge Parkway than I am now. Only Alaska and Hawaii are further. I do envy your roads.
By all means, join. It is a paltry sum of money and the sex, I think, has been dropped from the requrements...

I do know it went through; you have the "Profile" and "PM" buttons in your message.
Welcome aboard. This really is a great site, perhaps that is why many who do not even have bikes, or do not have BMW's of any variety, choose to hang here.
You will find many of the members to be an incredible recourse on almost any topic. For example: at work a young woman was getting harassing e-mail messages. I posted a "help" in this site, and not only did help come, it was pretty sophisticated and more important, did the trick.
Eventually the other members will feel like family. You will find “kindred spirits†in whatever your interest is.

Yellowjacket, welcome to the board. This is a greta resource for BMW motorcycles and bike talk in general. Although I sold my Roadster and bought a Yamaha MT-01, I am a lifetime member, so they can't get rid of me. (I hope!)BTW, I don't get (tears now falling) this 180 degree wrench thing on tightening the head bolts...loosen, retighten, wrench at 12 O'clock, then 6 O'clock...huh?
Anyway, as for the torque, re-torque, I can't remember the details, but I think that is for new head gaskets only. If you are simply putting it back together after a valve adjustment, there is a different procedure.
If you can communicate with "whaycock" he can tell you all about it.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.
