I'm replacing the standard Rockster handlebar for the Wunderlich
'Sportego" Aluminum Handlebar which should be a bit more comfortable.
Quick question for those that have removed the handlebars that have heated grips. How do I disconnect the wiring for the grips? I took of the grip screws and started to pull off the grips off but noticed that I would probably break the wiring if I pull any harder.
Thanks;
Arun

Haven't done this myself, but disconnecting heated grips requires access to wiring harness and corresponding connector plug under the fuel tank.
See following installation procedure - should be applicable to many years' Oilhead htd. grips installs (and de-installs):

Re: Replaceing Handlebars / Question
You have to remove the tank and disconnect the wiring for the electric grips from the connectors on the frame. Then you have to take a small precision screwdriver and release the two conductors on each connector from the plastic shell. At that point you can remove the grip and wiring. when installing in the new h'bars, the wires will need to be fed back through the center of the bar and back to the termination location. The conductors can be easily snapped back into the plastic connector housings.Aparm wrote:Quick question for those that have removed the handlebars that have heated grips.
