Rockster, Gloss Black or De-stripe + custom paint
Just wondered what people think, and how would painting effect the value.
Great bike, but I dont really like the stripes like so many people. Also the matt paint, is not great and is easily damaged.
What do people think about repainting?
Do people like the stripes?
Has anyone removed the stripes, and wished they hadn't?
Has anyone painted and wished they hadn't?
PS. theres some great pictures of custom painted BMWs on the following web site.

It's all in double dutch, but you can work around the site quite easily.

tough question - if you sell good and maintained bike, this would not be (much of) an issue. if you repaint it people think it may have been crashed, or something else nasty.
also how many people will buy Rockster with different colour? we all love them because they are dark ugly beasts which handle well and are bulletproof, innit???

All machines are tools. Bikes are also platforms for personal expression.

I like mine virtually stock. Partly because I'm cheap & lazy. Mostly cause I like it just the way it is. For now. Do what you want with yours. Suggest you take your time and think...visualize...what you want *before* diving in. You could take pics of it as-is then draw, color, fold spindle & mutilate as you will. At some point you may have an "Aha!" moment and that will be it.
Above all have fun and be who you are.

I like mine the way it is, but hey, it's YOUR bike so do whatever makes you happy. However, custom paint job will always reduce the value of the bike. The guy interested in buying that bike may not have the same taste as you in the color scheme.
Cogito Ergo Vroom - I think therefore I ride.

Peeled Rock
I peeled mine and painted her out, she looks great (see pics a few posts down under intro). I did leave green rims to accent her:)Disney wrote:Thanks for all those who left comments.
Has anyone peeled the stripes and then regretted it?
Would you buy one which has been professionally painted?
Would a painted one be worth the same, or less?
Thanks
