Front Brake Noise

Post by towerworker »

Just replaced front pads with new Galfer pads. Ordered them online. I prefer organic linings as it's been my experience that even though they don't last quite as long they are easier on the rotors. These make quite an unusual noise when applied and really don't know how to describe it. The stopping power is unchanged and might even be better than original. The noise is what gets me. Anyone have any experience with this?

The original pads would squeal quite a bit under light to moderate brake pressure.

Front Brake Noise

Could be the (organic)pads passing over the holes in the drilled disc. My old R90/6 did this in the seventies. Sort of a staccato whir that decreased in frequency with speed. Wasn't a squeak, just an odd sound that was more pronounced with hard braking. Just a thought.

I think you hit on it. I could not think of a way to describe the sound it makes. Not sure what sounds worse...the whir or the squeak!

But it does stop well and consistently and that is what matters!

Thanks

btw--was in Va Beach the last two days working. Sure was pretty last two days. Wife wants me to take her there next weekend or two.
