coming from an in-line 4 here's some first impressions:
i caused the rev-limiter to cut in 5 minutes into the post-purchase ride home during my first overtake - redline already? a few overtakes later and i realise that the engine doesn't need to rev manically to create a surge forward that blisters past anything on 4 wheels.
when coming down through the gears from speed re-engaging the clutch causes the bike to pull right and waggle it's bars. disconcerting the first time it happened, maybe i'll get used to it.
the indicator cancel button should be closer to the throttle control - i have to move my hand to stop the flashing making precise throttle control difficult at this point because i don't have 6 inch long thumbs.
there's a ticking noise from the engine that really annoys me - is this normal?
the engine is fabulous. it pulls like a train from any revs and i love it. the brakes are equally impressive and the lights are good too - they really illuminate the road rather than twinkle feebly at other motorists.
so far so good - it's easily the best bike i've ever had - or ridden for that matter. what a good choice i've made. (hehe)

dirt you say? i'll get my cloth....
The ticking from the engine is normal. The flat twin makes all sorts of strange mechanical musics.
If you think that you love the engine now, wait till you put on a new Y-pipe and exhaust can AND remap the engine. It brings a whole new life to the bike.

Cogito Ergo Vroom - I think therefore I ride.

Re: first impressions
I have trouble cancelling on my roadster as well. Find I sometimes roll the throttle when reaching for the switch. Have accidentally accelerated more than once when I wasn't expecting it BUT I can live with that when you consider the rest of these fantastic bikes! I've started resting my first finger on the front brake lever to stop my hand moving when I reach for the cancel button.placey wrote: the indicator cancel button should be closer to the throttle control - i have to move my hand to stop the flashing making precise throttle control difficult at this point because i don't have 6 inch long thumbs.

The gear selector can take a little getting used to, You have to be positive and some times you have to push up a bit as the clutch is let out to hold in. Take care when down changing it's quite possible to lock the rear.placey wrote:since i last posted it's false neutralled twice causing a bit more bumpety forward when at rest than i bargained for - is this normal too?
oh they do (at least my one) ... only it takes toooooo long ... when it has cancelled itself it is time to turn again, not good for health - all sorts of lunatics will run you over in the mean time ... etc. etc.Lion_Lady wrote:MY Rockster self-cancels. Seems that the euro ones don't.

my pet hate is a biker with indicator blinking and they filter through the traffic - gaaaaaaaa - switch the bloody thing OFFFFFFFFFFFFFF please!!!!
