How many ride 2 up on ther R's ... what are the cmplaints from the passenger?

I ride two up alot..I was out for a few hours today riding two up...no probs or complaints...I've done all many all day rides without any complaints.

My son used to complain about the seat after a long time. When I got the Sargent seats, he said there was a big difference. Sometimes he'll fall asleep on the bike and now I think we have a way for him to tell me he needs a break. Oh, we put some speakers in his helmet so he can listen to his I-pod, which makes him great for long distances.

My Lady, who normally rides her own bike, reports that it is very comfy, especially with a top box fitted.

I ride 2 up quite often with my wife. Like John's son, my wife complained about numb bum with the stock seat. Since buying a Sargent saddle, no compaints. She's talking about getting a bike of her own now but I don't think that's because riding with me is so bad???

My wife's only complaint is that I ride too fast (which she communicates to me with a rabbit-punch to the kidneys).

When she rode with me on my Honda cruiser she had frequent back issues, but she is a lot more comfortable and relaxed on the R.

Ride 2 up with my 13 year old son all the time, we set a new personal passenger butt record of 415 miles to Vermont a couple of weeks ago.

The stock seat had to go, use a sargent now.

He will still complain about butt pain after a few hours, but I don't think that is the seat, I think it's just the lack of mileage under his butt.

Of course, he would like us on a LT.

IMHO, Autocom with XM made as much of a difference as the Sargent.

I have a Corbin saddle and have never had a complaint from my pillion.

My wife rides pillion 3 or 4 times a week on my Rockster. She only gets uncomfortable at prolonged high speeds (ie: ~90mph) on the interstate, when she begins complaining of hip pain. Probably because she is nervous without a backrest so she uses me as her own personal thighmaster. Occasionaly she complains of numb butt, only when the scenery sucks though

I've taken two longish trips of 4200 and 3200 miles with a passenger. My skinny son complained bitterly about the stock BMW passenger seat on any ride over an hour or so. The BMW "Comfort" seat wasn't much better in his estimation: After 800 miles into a long trip I picked up a Sargent seat at the MOA Rally in Spokane. No complaints (at least about the seat) for the rest of the trip.

When I took a trip with my daughter a year later, she had no complaints about the Sargent seat. She has more padding than my son, but I did not experiment with either of the BMW seats.

I have the Pirate's Lair backrest. It goes on and off in 10 seconds, and I always use it when carrying a passenger for longer than 15 minutes.

when I went to the BMW dealer 3 years ago I had my kid on the back of my Honda, it had a Hondaline backrest.

As I was salivating over the R, with my poker face, trying to do my best not to look like a pidgeon, the dealer says:

"We can get a nice backrest for it, overnighted, be here tomorrow."

SOLD.

At that time the Pirate site read "out of stock" on the backrest, still don't know how he got it.

I ride two up pretty often as well...stock seat. My problem is after a few hours riding I get a sharp pain in my right ear that continues til we stop and stretch.

Sounds like i need to get a Sargent.

I have had no complaints except when I get a little throttle happy and I do not forwarn her. Usually I take her hands off my belt area, wrapped the left one around me and tap it two times to tell her its about to get a little crazy. She does this automatically however when stuck at a stop light and someone comes beside me either in a "boom boom" car or riding a Harley, all that chrome and you can barely get to 80 I always think when next to joe smoe Harley.

The best thing I like to do, is have my wonderful girl wrap her legs around me, so I can lean back just a little and relax you in the wonderful area of fantasy land. She loves to wrap her lags around me, a little break if you would from sitting in her normal horse riding position. (she's a horse trainer). We did 5 hours Sunday with 1 "if you ever do that again I will cut your........ 2. I need to pee. And of course 3. Did you see that deer?

My wifes complaint is a sore bum when I exceed the critical time.
She is a fair amount "softer" than me when it comes to riding.
For her to ride without complaint, the weather must be perfect, the company must be good and the destination should involve some shopping.
As for my enjoyment, the best rides are when I'm travelling with her.

With Summer in full swing and $3/gallon gas, we take the bike a little more than both her wonderful Civic or my 4 cyl Nissan truck. Because our new house still has us busy, we rarely take a day off just to go for a ride to nowhere . . . even though retirement means we can. There is a 55 minute limit on uninturrupted stock seat sit time for each of us. It's time to stop and rest anyway. Most often it's trips to Lowes for small items -or- her absolute favorite . . . . going out to breakfast/lunch/dinner!! I always tone it down on the sharp corner speed, ban over 70mph (112.6kph) cruise speed, shun in-traffic big throttle grabs and avoid too close a following distance when she's behind me. There's been a motorcycle couple being killed here every 2 weeks or so and I don't want to join the club.
One big downer for my wife is cold weather riding. It's a woman thing. They're always cold when it's cold. Even with her Widder vest on, it has to be a warm day (over 55F = 12.8 C) for a ride.
Biggest problem is (twice) almost loosing her on sedate stoplite take-offs due in part to the bikes solid clutch and torquey nature. I'm almost Limo driving, but she gets distracted away from the green lite, is prolly already leaning backward and is a little too trusting.

i ride with my girlfriend not nearly enough. but i'm like robby there. slow, and careful and generally losing the drag race with the granny in the Grand Marquis. she and i are far more comfortable if she is on her own bike. but you don't get the same squeeze as when riding 2-up.

Same here, looks great (same material as stock), works great, and I feel much better when my 9 year old is back there. My wife loves it too.

I went 2-up yesterday on a first date. She also rides but doesn't have a bike herself right now. No complaints, in fact she said it was very enjoyable and put a smile on her face. Now thatI'm back in the dating world, I'm starting to think that this bike IS a chick magnet. I used to think that was just a myth.
