Hello:
I have a 2004 R, the fastest color. I am considering getting the inner bags for my system cases. If I understood correctly, their cost is at around $200 (give or take). Main reason being that I am thinking it might be more convenient to carry them in/out of a hotel/house than having to carry the system cases all the time. Especially the left case, which has a habit of wanting to tip over. Also, on long trips I normally have to make two trips out to the bike. One to bring up the helmet and tail pack and the other to bring up the cases. Would be nice if one trip would do the trick.
Is there somebody who makes these bags other than BMW? Pros/cons regarding the use of these bags? Thanks in advance.

Check on ebay as there is a BMW group that markets a set of bags significantly cheaper and also check out Bob's BMW, they have a set for the standard R system cases made by Kathy's Journey, for a pair it is $99 or you can get a pair that can expand to fit the large lids too for $119. I have not ordered them yet, but I think I am going to go for the Kathy ones so I can use them in my cases now and in the future when I get a set of large lids, I can use them in those too. The bags have an expansion zipper in them that lets them increase in size.

when I bought them used. They are very well made, pretty
much waterproof, The stitching & finish is as good as travel luggage.

I used to have a set for my last bike. They can be handy but if you put any non-clothing type items, like camping gear, tools, bike oil, etc, in your saddlebags, they become less useful.
Consider one of the many variety of dry bags for one saddlebag for your clothing, etc. and leave one side for bulky items. That's what I do.

Check out Helen2Wheels. She makes the liners. I have a couple of her other type bags and find the quality superb. Your BMW dealer may carry Helen's gear.

I had forgotten DeSantis made these, but they look out of line on their prices. nearly twice the cost of even the more expensive sets. For my money lighter, thinner material is the way to go on these. You either want one that is exactly the shape of your case, or one that will stretch and conform to the odd shape of the system cases. Have to agree 100% with Airman. Thinner material is better. I have the Helen2Wheels liners. She makes great products and these are well made of heavy duty canvas that will last a lifetime however I sometimes wish they were of a thinner material to conform even better with the interior of the system case.Airman wrote:For my money lighter, thinner material is the way to go on these. I just got a 2nd hand set of BMW ones off Ebay. Price was right,
so, although not used all the time, because they were cheap, I can afford to sit them in the cupboard.
I had a set with my GS, and they were handy-as stated, saves lugging the panniers around.
New BMW ones are not cheap, but we dont have the options you people have.

I'm a little surprised that there's not more products available to you. From what I can see from websites and the like Austraila has a great lot of BMW riders. The market apears to be there anyhow. We have to buy all our Staintune exhausts from you guys.
