Is it possible to remove the filler neck on the R1150R that projects down into the tank so as to get a little more fuel into the top 'hump' of the tank? That was a standard on the early K-bikes and it worked.

I've seen holes drilled..but not seen one removed.

Same here. I use a Mobil/Exxon speedpass that's attached to my motorcycle key. I pull up, remove key (NOT using the kill switch OR sidestand), hold the speedpass against the sensor then use the key to pop the tank open. While straddling the bike I fill up. When it get's full I rock the bike back and forth to 'burp' the tank and get a little more gas in. It doesn't make that much of a difference but I am able to go a little further on a tank, often allowing me get to cheaper gas stations (further out).
Flame me for not getting off the bike, that's how I get gas.

You can drill a hole in the filler neck about half way down and get more gas in. For that, first remove the charcoal canister, else it might fill up with gas, a no-no. Then, fill it up full only if you keep on riding right away. Otherwise, when the gas heats up from sun or motor heat, it will push raw gas out the vent hose.

I cannot believe that no one has yet provided the correct answer. You MUST use the center stand, but ONLY after turning the bike off using the kill switch
I don't use either - I straddle/balance while reaching with my card, punching "yes" to the car wash question, and then - as the gas vapors waft up under my visor - I wonder what it would feel like if things suddenly caught fire. Somehow, I feel amazingly alive for the rest of my journey. Oh...and I ALWAYS forget to actually go through the car wash...

Damn and i thought I was going to be original with the Speedpass thingy.. Oh well great minds all that. Have to try that burp technique tho.
I cant remeber the last gas station i was at that didnt have some form of pay at the pump. If not an Exxon/Mobil i just pull the debit card out of the tankbag.

I seldom use cash...for gas...and it's so much easier to just pump and go while still sitting on the seat. However, as the ever increasing girth prevents me from simply leaning over slightly to remove my wallet from the right hip pocket of my Draggin Jeans, I (for safety's sake) lower the sidestand and lean over on it while tiptoeing to get to my right buttocks pocket for the credit card. Then I fill her up just as erock suggested earlier, grab the receipt, replace tank bag (which is dangling off to the right by the tether) and without replacing the gloves, which are squeezed in the space between the windshild and instrument cluster, I start her up and move to someplace out of the way and easier to dismount and de-gear. Then I use what cash I may have with me to purchase a cold drink or even a Honeybun for sustenance on my continued journey. After gearing back up and taking off, I usually remember to reset the mileage meter about a mile down the road.
Normally, I fill up before I ride so I do it from the bike with a credit card. I stick the thingie in there and once it clicks, I let it click a couple more times.
If we are gassing up during a drink stop I go center stand.....just preference but you get a little more gas in the tank with less effort. My bike runs between 172 to 175 miles before the reserve light comes on.....
