Front fender

I would like to replace the front fender on my R1150R with something more "normal" looking. Does anyone have suggestions of other BMW models or aftermarket suppliers with bolt on options?

Try a fender from the Rockster - it's not a 'beak'.

It will look a bit odd..IMO...there will be a huge gap between the fender and the headlight.

The Rockster fender will not fit..they have a different fork...the old R1100R fender should fit.

The RT and RS fenders will fit also..btw..I once put my friends Ducati fender on mine and it looked stupid.

The beak is something that you will get used to..I hated it when I first got mine..now I don't mind it at all.

I'm with DJ on the look of the "beak".
It's just one more distinctive thing about this bike that grows on you.

Look at the bike from the side. Look at the top of the beak and how the line forms a straight line to the gas tank. The gas tank and the beak is synchronized to work together as a combo. And I believe it works very well IMO. You cannot look at the beak as a separate design. The whole is more than the sum of it's parts.

One of the guys at at the BMW dealership where I got my 1150 had one with a "Normal" fender on it. I think he said it was from an RT, not sure what year though.

I saw it and it looked anything but normal. It made the oil coolers stick out like sore thumbs. My opinion: Stick with the beak. Like Oilhead said, it blends with the tank from the profile.

However, if you move the OC's, then you basically have a 1200 looking 1150.

i thought the "beak"was normal for the R. :shock:

after 2 years, it still looks funny. after 2 years, the affection for the bike is still growing.

Van.....you see what you started? What explodes at high altitude?

Acpantera.......yes, sure just like the battery is under the tank so it's protected from the elements and the surging is what gives the boxers "character".........Santa is coming....hehehe

I tried to scan page 34 of the 2002 BMW motorcycle catalog that states"Just enough body sculpting to do the job. Call it naked if you want. But in this case, every piece has a purpose. Even the fender directs air into the intergrated oil cooler" I can't get it to scan to this forum.
