Fuel capacity

How much does it (R1200R) hold.

The specs say '4.6 U.S. gallons w/ approx. 1 gallon reserve ' for the R1200R.

While most of the other models show 'X.X U.S. gallons ; including 1 gallon reserve'

I read this as 4.6 plus 1 gal. reserve and the others the reserve is included in the first number.

Does anyone know for sure how many US gallons the R1200R tank holds?

It holds just shy of five gallons total. I've shown 25 miles left on my computer and it took 4.4 gallons to the brim.

Mine holds more than that. I've put in 5.12 gals and it said i had another 47 miles until empty. I think it is the 4.6 + 1 gal reserve.

Euro specs are 18L + 3L reserve = 21L = 5.547613071 US Gallons = 4.619352297 Imperial Gallons

Fly is probably correct; I have put 5.4 gallons in mine with 8 miles left on the computer. I put the bike on the center stand and rocked it a bit to get max fill.

Well damn, sounds like it's about 5.5 with reserve! I got this off the corp BMW site.

what kind of fuel milage are you folks getting, I'm going to ck mine but I just got my bike saturday and now it's flipp'n snowing!

I have 1900 miles on mine. Getting around 40 thusfar. That's mostly on the freeways at around 75-80 indicated. Got mid 40's with mostly two lane riding at around 65.

2600 miles on mine, getting 50 mpg now.... this is getting better and better . Computer is showing 51mpg on the current tank of gas

Thanks for the replies.
After a bunch of years in the saddle I've developed a habit of stopping in the same places for fuel/food. Usually they are 200/220 miles apart and I was having concerns about making it on the new bike. Looks like after break in, with a light hand on the throttle it should just make it.

As time goes on, I am finding it more and more difficult to run my normal 70-75. What is especially intoxicating is coming up behind slower traffic in the passing lane on the freeway. Making a lane change with a WOT in sixth and a hard pass! God, how I love the WOT on this bike in sixth!! WOT....wide open throttle.

Actually, the WOT is Warp Drive !
