Just wait until you get comfortable enough to take it on longer rides! I will be heading off to Flagstaff, AZ very soon, staying overnight in Las Vegas, NV. That's somewhere around 800 miles total one way.
Ride safely and keep grinning!

Am I Crazy?
MikeB,
Welcome back to motorcycling; its a whole new world.
And remember, in the world of the insane, a sane man is considered mad.
I think that means you are crazy, as are all of us who ride large motorcycles. But the world is a richer place for it.
Enjoy dude, and ride safe.
Riding unwisely; now, that is crazy.

Argue your limitations and they are.

+1 to most of what has been said but I think the motorcycle keeps me sane. But then, that might be the other voices talking!
Get good gear and good instruction. Ride like everyone is out to kill you!
And enjoy the bike. It is a good one!

You should be having a blast by now.
Ride safe, but as my favorite BMW salesman told me, 'Ride Fast, Take Chances'. The fun of riding in some part comes from from understanding and accepting the inherent risk.
A man I met a few weeks ago said he would never get on a motorcycle because he wanted to live a long time, I told him some people make it through a lifetime and never live.
Live every day like it was your last, be grateful for every day and have fun.
