I've not seen resonators before - looks promising.

After running stock for a year, I took off my endcan & ran it with an eBay exhaust tip & the cat in place for a few weeks without problems. I subsequently found a cheap used Remus endcan with a y-piece (to replace the cat) which I now prefer - you won't believe how heavy the cat is til you unbolt one!

I know there are problems running the stock endcan without the catalytic converter in place, but I'd presumed running the bike without either a cat or an endcan would be massively loud? Does it work okay?

Another benefit of this mod is it allows the fitting of a full size case from an RT.

It is well worth the investment of your time to take the can off and try it, I will be very surprised if you don't like the sound that your bike makes.

The sound will be deeper and a bit louder, but not loud enough to offend, I often return from work well after midnight and set out again at 7 am and my neighbours have never complained. (I have asked them to tell me if it bothers them, and if so I will reinstate the silencer.)

Also before I removed the silencer I had a few near misses with myopic pedestrians who walked out in front of me. Now when they step up to the kerb they hear me coming and look around.

Hi,

When i bought my bike it came with a full laser exhaust, i do like the look of hank's mod especially... looks neat.
Question:

Should i fit the laser exhaust or hanks style of mod.

Did you buy the exhaust end and make it fit or was it specific for this.

Ray..If you want to go 'can-less'....you will need the stock cat in place...It sounds like your full Lasar exhaust will have a type of 'Y' pipe cat replacement.

The exhaust tip shown can be bought from any auto store and fits straight onto the stock cat.

I've used the shield flip approach, a $7 tip from AutoZone, some 800 grit sandpaper to rough it all up, and VHT FlameProof Flat Black paint (parts baked in the oven per instructions on can). The charcoal cannister is gone too, with proper plugging (per another post).

Yes, the headers with the VHT flat black. The head covers were with the DupliColor High Heat 1200 deg. I would recommend using the latter on the headers, as well, as it seems to be stickier and less scratch prone.

If anyone out there has powder-coated their exhaust i would be interested in hearing about that ...
