I got the Special OPS pipe. Have you ridden with this one?

Track day? I wish I had time. I spend most of my free time with my 2 1/2 year old son. Fortunately for me, he's even more fun than my Buell.

So Gary, how are you liking the Buell after having it for a few months? I was at the dealer yesterday looking at them (I shouldn't be doing that). I'm torn betwenn the XB12Ss and the XR1200. Decisions decisions...

I could not ask for more in a motorcycle. I would gush in detail, but this would be a very, very long post.

The above link does a nice comparison of the two motorcycle you are looking at. I'm a bit biased... I say go for the XB12Ss

I keep leaning toward the Buell. I love the design of the XR1200, but it IS still a Sportster. With some good parts, but still a sportster. Deep down, I want the ugly bike with more power.

Regarding that comparison article:

Please note that the XB12Scg is used as the Buell benchmark, rather than the XB12Ss or XB9SX. Why this matters?

1. the H-D comparo might have chosen the XB12Scg just because it's longer-than-necessary model designation seemed so, well, Harleyish.

2. the Buell cg is the "low" version of the bike, and its 41mm forks are part of the package; all of the regular height Buell XBs use 43mm forks, the de facto sportsbike equipment these days. The regular height versions are recommended unless you really have a short inseam.

3. the Scg and the XB12Ss are available in those translucent iMac-ish colors as well as basic (opaque) black. Note that you can buy any plastic pieces from the XB Lightnings that appeal to you, as the flyscreen & airbox cover & fender are universal from 2003 to present day. I have two sets of plastics myself for the XB, just for the heck of it.

4. The XB12 is 170 lb. lighter, and 13HP/10ft-lb stronger. C'mon!

5. You gotta be kidding: XR1200 for trackdays?!

The Buell suspension is more nimble, but the XR1200 suspension offers a smooth ride for cruising with track ready capacities.

I have zero time to ride my Buell. It's about a 6 hour drive if you'd like mine. I'm really just having too much fun playing with my son, and have no time for anything else. $8,900 , and it's new, with a transferable two year warranty and aftermarket exhaust already installed. And, this one's not ugly.

This might be a new record. I won't be replacing this one though, not for a few years anyway. Don't need the money, but it seems a waste to let it sit.

Wow - sorry to se you selling your bike (again ). I understand about family - it comes first in my book too, only I do get some riding in to/from work.

Right now I'm not ready for another large purchase, but should be come next spring. Last Friday I spent the day tooling around some gravel/dirt roads and had a blast so not the F800GS has moved up to the top of the short list, nudging the Buell down a notch. I may get over it and end up with a Buell, but it's hard to justify two similar bikes (naked street bikes) when I can have a road-worthy bike along with a dual sport.

R.I.P. Buell, and that's a damn shame. I hope Eric can gather the troops and continue on privately. These bikes were battling the R12R for my money... I loved his ingenuity! Really hated going to a Harley dealership to look at them though, talk about a fish out of water...
