Wow, if they had that in a red close to my bike I wouldn't be able to resist

Thanks Harry... This might be the only route and probably the best. The web sight has a place close by where I could have the work done (Baton Rouge , LA.) I'll ask them for an estimate.
I was looking at Auto Zone's engine paint. They offer engine paint in several colors that claims to be good to two thousand degrees. I think I might try painting a square inch somewhere out of the way to see how it fairs. A good test with summer so close.

Forget exhaust paint. I've been looking for a cheap/convenient way to do the exhaust on my 71 beemer for years and paint isn't it. Painting the exhaust, even with the best available coating will become a yearly process if you want to keep it looking good. It's kind of like polishing aluminum, looks good for a while but in a few months you'll be doing it again and again and again.
Here's a link to Eastwood Company that sells a few good exhaust coatings: http://search.eastwood.com/search?p=KK& ... ating&rk=1
I have friends that have used similar coatings, but with the exhaust on the R1200R hanging out in front of the engine I'm sure the coating would get chipped up pretty fast.
So If your going to do it spend the bucks and do it right. If you do it black -be sure to post pictures.

I'm having fun reading your discussion about coating the exhaust and going back and forth on what to/wheather to do about it. The waffleing is axactly why I just bit the bullet and coated mine in the first place.
I too have the tendency to over analyze at times and it usually winds up costing me more time/money/frustration than just doing what I wind up doing, and known I should have at first.
Yeah the ceramic coat job was pushing $300.00 after it was all said and done with the shipping costs. That was three years ago and my up keep effort has been soap and water washes for the most part. The occasional tar bit requires some chemical solvent but no more effort than that. In my feable way of thinking it was the right thing for me, saves me all kinds of time and frustration.
Good roads guys
