This is one of the major reasons for traveling with an Epi-Pen. It is never too far away, as I am allergic to bees, etc.

Recommend this for ALL of the riders on the board, as this will save your life if you do get anaphalaxis as has been pointed out by Dr. Strangelove and others here.

Where/how do you get an epi-pen? I'm assuming it's an Rx.

Yes, it is an Rx and easily obtained. You "jab" it into your thigh if/when you need it.

Yes an Rx. Not too expensive. (Death is much more costly)

Should be able to get a script for one from your PCP.
Keep it in the fridge when it's not on a ride and it will last a long time.

I've encountered anaphalaxis. It's scary.

My brother had a reaction to a spider bite while visiting, and my wife shot him with his epi-pen. The EMT's who arrived a half hour later (they were washing the ambulance when I called) said it saved him.

Tangentially, I was bitten by a spider of unknown species in a hotel on the east coast of Florida a few years ago and called the front desk to ask them to call an ambulance if they didn't hear back from me in 15 minutes. I called them back 10 minutes later to let them know I was fine. It turned out to be nothing, but I was glad to know help was coming if needed.
