Thanks. I suspect the service guy was "not well informed" and not intentionally lying.

You're quite generous in that.. the BMW parts warranty has been in effect about as long as I've been riding them, so unless he came from an entirely different environment, he should have known this. I guess it's proof of the saying "Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by ignorance.."
