Hi Mike:

Since you are looking for something else, by all means try the RT. Remember that the RR is an "RT-Lite". I had the 07 RR (release day bike at my dealer in October 2006), and loved it. Like a lot of us, I spent a lot of $$ on seat and windscreens etc. plus bags and topcase. Then I went in for the 24000 mile service and was handed the keys to a brand-new RT wish all of 2 miles on it, and the instructions to "bring it back for the 600 mile service". That violated the Eilenberger Rule. (Don can explain this to you in great detail !)

March 1, 2012, I ended up trading the RR for the RT and absolutely love the RT. It is as easy to ride as the RR with superior weather protection, electric windscreen, cruise control, stereo, etc. Comparison notes start here, and run for several posts after this :

I actually get to ride GS's from time to time at our dealership, and they are good bikes but, to me, not a lot different from the RR and a whole lot more expensive due to the supply/demand economics of the GS. If you absolutely want a GS, the GS/A is a better buy simply because it comes with a lot of farkles standard that most GS owners spend lots of $$ adding. Neither GS is a dirt bike for serious stuff because of the weight. They can go off road, but so can the RR. I followed a lot of dual-sport guys locally (to their amazement!) into all but soft sand or mud on my RR. If you really want to play offroad, get something lightweight with knobby tires and have a ball ! (They are MIUCH easier to pick up !!)

Hmmm... D I C K must rank up there with A M S O I L as prohibited words :-k
