With 7,000 miles on the GT4's the rear is heavily chopped on the edges and the center is starting to wear badly, it looks like this tire will see @12,000 and be totally shagged. The front is like new. I would have to say the old model GT3 was a much better tire all things considered, I am surprised and disappointed.

Do these tires come in the "170-60-17" size? I've only seen 180 as the smallest size offered and according to our rear wheel size of 5", we should only use the 170 width. Has anyone had issues with using the 180 width tire on a 5" wheel?

Seems good mileage to me and a recommendation for the Michelins? My Metzeler Roadtec Z6 was worn out at under 6000 miles (hit TWI and no cords showing). Never had better than that.

Man, I just swapped out a cupped BT30 front with 7300 on it with a PR4.

I never knew just how junky the BT was until I felt this Michelin.

Like for reals yall, my smallest movement gives me predictable, controlled, beautiful turns. Low speed handling is exceptional as well. Point and go.

Great. New tyres are always a wake up call as to how the bike SHOULD feel.

13,000 miles on the GT4s now, they chopped quickly and then just kind of hit a holding pattern. Don't seem to be any worse than they where at 7k, front is holding up very well even with some recent VERY spirited riding.

6000 miles in 3 months? That's some going and a great tyre test. Is that for pleasure or do you have a long commute to the office as well?
I've only averaged 2000 miles in a year.

That is not true now if it ever was. I just put a new, regular pilot 4 on the rear of my 1150R and I do love it!

Gregory, my commute to Battlefield Harley Davidson is 85 miles a day, lately I have been running my daughter to her job as well cranking that up to 160 miles a day. I am also such a simpleton that when I get home I will generally change bikes and go for a ride for fun, but the BMW gets most of the everyday miles, it is my "car".

I was a real cheapskate about tires for years, but finally figured out that cheap tires are a lot more expensive than good ones. Then I put a set of the PR4s on an old R1100RS I had and went on a 7000 mile loop around the west (from Dallas to SW Colorado to Chicago, then to Oregon and back to Dallas). I was really impressed, flawless handling, seemingly no wear (well, it was real slow wear), and a very confident feel to them. I sold that bike with 12K on those tires, they still looked ready for a long road trip. I'm riding an 04 R1150R now, when it's tire time it will get the Michelins fo sure.

Brave person commuting to an HD dealer on a BMW? An understanding employer who does not demand you ride the brand. Around here BMW and HD attract polar opposites, with the odd exceptions.

We just all like to ride. All year long we get hard core riders in here, of course mostly on Harleys, guys and gals with 100,000+ miles on their bikes, there may be some friendly ball breaking but at the end of the day we all love to ride. I do have 2 Harleys in the garage right now also.

I’ve just had a pair of Michelin PR4’s fitted to mine (replacing the Bridgestones) and I’m like a dog with two tails: grippy doesn’t even come close to how sticky these feel and the feedback they are giving is the best I can recall of any tire I’ve ridden. Very impressed indeed.

Just over 22,000 miles on the GT4?s now, they are shot, barely round. Longevity was ok but they chopped badly very quickly. A fair amount of two up riding, several thousand miles of fully loaded, spirited touring, and a little track time. I found them to deliver excellent grip, hot or cold, wet or dry. I will likely buy a set of the GT3's if they can be had, otherwise I will go with these again.

I have put a couple of thousand miles on them and have not noticed any of those effects

5000 miles for me. That's to hitting the tread wear markers.
Minimum tread depth is enforced in UK at annual MOT and the law officers. No way can I run until the carcass shows.
