there's a set of city cases on IBMWR for an 96 R1100GS, but those won't fit the R1150 R (I think).

I've seen some cases from other models, RT's, GS's, but I don't know the differences well enough to know if they'll fit on the R.

I think those might fit. The luggage rails from the R1100R can be used on the R1150R, and the GS is the same basic bike.

the rack rails are probably all really similar, I think what's different is where the exhaust pipes fit in through the luggage. On the GS the pipes are high and tight. On the R, the bags would sit above the pipe. Does that sound right to you?

ibmwr is a good place to look for parts or bikes for that matter. bags are pricey this time of year, for the good deals you just have to look and bide your time. Got my bags for $200.00 plus $14.00 postage in December last year. They had some scatches and one broken mounting tab that had been repaired, but I was very happy with them.Good Luck and Happy hunting. :D

I can give you a deal if you want to do a little work. I have the left and right system cases but they're in pieces (the lids are separated from the base and the handle mechanism is separate too). Also, one of the handle latches is broken but a new part can be purchased from BMW.

If you're interested, let me know. I currently have these parts listed separately on this site and the IBMWR site. I could let the whole shebang go for cheap (compared to the $600+ you'd pay new).

Thanks Norse, but I'm watching a couple on ebay that just recently appeared. I'm gonna take my time and be choosy, see what pops up.

Not sure as I'm willing to invest in broken bags, either. I'm not THAT handy ...
