Well the screen came in yesterday and this afternoon I took it over to look at the bike. Well guess what I am screwed. With my bar-backs I can not attach the brackets from the shield the curve of the housing will not allow me to mout the bracket flus plus alignment is off.

So I am going to put it up forsale soon. If anyone is interested send me a pm. $100 + ship in US. :(

Well the saga continues. As I prepare myself for the seasons riding, thru Advrider, I purchased a used Motoport Ultra II Kevlar jacket. Tomorrrow I will order the pants. Both for about the cost of a Darien combo. I can not wait to feel what the buzz is all about.

The windshield at this time is on hold. Nobody want the Parabellum?

I will take delivery of the R1150R next week. The weather here in Northern Ohio is starting to break, I hope to be on the road soon.

Well I have had the bike at home for about 10 days now. Riding without the shield. The bike handles well, very tight and quick. I have added a couple of items to make my butt fill better. First the Wool Butt Pad from Alaska and second on top of the wool I put a beaded cover from Beadrider. Now what realy made this even better......I was having trouble slipping forward towards the tank, so I took a hand towel and folded it into a small rectangle and put it under the sheepskin which forced the front edge to raise. Thus not allowing me to slip. Very secure.

Plus with the addition of the pieces, it also raises me up an inch or so, relieving my knees somewhat.

All the gears shift easily but 3rd gear. It does not want to engage and I have to double clutch or pause in the shift, wait a second then it will engage. Anyone have suggestions or same experience? Loading the shifter does not seem to make any difference.

I also have picked up a Motoport Ultra Kevlar II jacket used from The Adventure Rider site, and now have ordered new pants to complete the set. I have looked at lots of gear and am impressed with the build quality and armor. No liner but with the cooler air along Lake Erie I can see where a liner might be needed. Right now I am using a hooded sweatshirt and it is borderline. I will try to put some links in for pics, since I do not have a site to post and transfer here to R1150R.

Well I now have over 700 miles on the bike since bringing it home.. Yesterday I put on Suburban Peg Lowering Kit. I does make a difference in the knees. I can still shift but the rear brake arm will need to be lowered. Hopefully today. Not sure if I want to try the extended shifter. windshield. Today also. Never sold it so why not try it out!

What expeeriences has anyone had with their Suburban Kit? BTW he is located on the eastside of Cleveland, so I went out and met the owner. Nice people and very informative.

Let the site download. It takes a few seconds. I thought the same but after 10-20 secs the pics show up. I wish we could load off the computer like the other bmw sites. I just noticed for some reason when not signed in as a member pics did not download. Go figure, this is a first for me.

I am back. Just did the 12k service and annual service. I had the BMW dealership do it. $465.99 was the total. $280.00 was labor.
Services:
Oil and Filter
New Brake Fluid
New Gear Oil
Trans Fluid
Crush Washers
Valve Adjustment
New Valve Seals
Spark Plugs
Throttle Adjustment
Air Filter

I must admit, the bike is much, much smoother. Shifting was improved, the trans did not have the whining pitch and the clutch is much easier to use. Earlier I was stating I was having trouble shifting into 3rd gear, now it is not a problem.

So far so good. I have done one trip to Lancaster, OH which is about a 3 hr+ ride from Avon Lake to the hills of Wooster, down towards Newark then to Lancaster. All two lane with very little car or truck traffic. Besides that I do one hr plus circles mainly to the west and south from home. I am really enjoying the rides.

Later
Cheers

Well I keep adding items as I tweak it up a bit. I did over 3000 miles this summer.

Zumo 450. Mounted on the handle bars just left of center. Slightly covers the speedo, but with the GPS it tells you the speed.

Throttle Lock. Not on yet.

Used center mount hard case. One of those black plastic cases that people use to put photography gear into with foam lining.Very Large. It was used when a fellow R1150R rider went to eastern Canada. Has been modified to mount to the GIVI rear luggage mount. Again not mounted waiting for warmer temps.

Also near the end of the season I bought a used Sargent seat. I rode about 500+ miles with it and it does make a difference. Somewhat wider purchase for my back side. I think though I will keep the sheep skin on it. The beads by themselves are a little slick and I keep inching forward when riding or braking hard.

Again once all work is done I will post another picture.

Hopefully this coming summer I plan on riding up towards Mackinac Island, Petoskey and Harbor Springs area. Great riding along Lake Michigan. Plus I need to see Lake Superior, the only great lake I have not seen or sailboat raced on. That's the goal, now will the wife let me do it?

Now how do I tell the wife?
Tough one ... let me try ....

Start off by telling her how there is a new secretary at work,

the new gal smiles a lot ..... especially at you,

next day she comes in a short skirt,

then the next day she comes in a low cut top, it doesn't help that she had a great pair ...

new gal then started talking with you, and bantered about how she's new in town and don't really know anyone; it gets lonely after work

tell your wife yesterday the new gal asked you to go with her to a nearby pub after work, and ....

on the way to the pub, you saw this 2002 R1150R in the garage window and decided to buy it on the spot, and forget about drinks.

Yes south is an option. I have a free place to stay near Charlotte NC. If I recall there is also a BMW ride-in but is that not more like July in eastern Tenn / NC area?

Now you have me thinking maybe Virginia or WV in the spring. Ohio River tour from Marietta to Louisville, KY. Or to Cincy for some ribs? In May the difference in temps from northern to southern Ohio is amazing.

Honey I've been thinking............

Well I bought myself another add on. Elf Highway Pegs. Brand new never put on, bike was traded in for a 1200 GS. Paid $225 shipped.

I have mounted the Givi mount and Pelican case on the bike. Looks nice but I need to be careful when swinging my leg over the seat.

Throttle lock not on yet.

Rode about 1 hour the other day when the temp went up to 60. A fair amount of bikes on the road. I hope I can get out at least one day a month for a quick riding fix.

Is it me or is my ability to tolerate winter getting worst with increasing age?

Depends. How old are you? I certainly don't tolerate cold like I used to. ( I'm 61. )
