Actually, I got your "seat risers". Those cubes you machined? They're working great, did my first ride into work today. Even got some extra test time when I realized I forgot my work clothes and tried to ride home

PM me your address. I got another set I was using for my seat. They are shorter...I think 1/2"? Still gives you a more level seat than stock, but allows the tabs to seat onto the tank, hence less gap. I dont need em anymore and you are welcome to them, since i just got a new Mayer seat . I'll send em out when I get your address.

Johnny the seat clamshell is what I was thinking. I ride solo so no worry about GF. Can't wait to see the pics.

Yeah...I'm not sure how I'm gonna get the G/F to the Bash if I mount the bubble on the bike . Maybe she'll be riding by then

A cool new style of handlebar accessory mounts, something less bulky and more elegant then what is currently out there. Maybe an accessory shelf like the one made for the RT, but designed just for the R.

A better headlight is always at the top of my list (one with a better reflector/lens combination that focuses more of the light available from the bulb, a lighting fixture designer is needed to wrestle that one). Hmmm. I have an idea. I'll get back to you.

How does the 'can tip down to that angle?? nice and easily??

Fancy doing that if i can find a full size LH case.

There is a part called the "S" pipe or police S pipe. Also needed an extra clamp. The pipe turns the can down and extends it back a few inches also. Works with the stock can and also the Remus.(what I used)

Cam tunnel covers with a sight glass insert. These can be machined from plastic and a round sight glass securred at a groove in the ID with a steel retaining ring. Cheap and a nice dress up for the boxer engine. The deluxe version could even have a LED incorporated for illumination of your cam sprockets...WOW just call me Mr. Farkle...Now if you want to get fancy, use alloy stock and anodize them in various colors..but the cost skyrockets, likely X3.

The plain plastic ones (no LED) could be made for about $10.00 each and sold for $39.95 each.

Modified boxer transmission input shaft with extra length at the splines to fully engage the clutch disk. You'll likely need a grinding attachement for the splines and tolerancing the shaft ODs. After the machining steps, heat treating will be required...possibly over your level...no insult intended here but, a transmission input shaft must be straight and critical ODs must be held to 0.0003 to 0.0005" and these tolerances must be held after hardening or heat treating so grinding is a must. The steel alloy is critical, as well. Metalurgists chime in here as well. I believe BMW charges about $250.00 for this piece. Many R models suffer from spline failure at the clutch/input shaft interface. A modified shaft would eliminate this weak design in the OE piece.

Modified cam (valve) timing. If you can profile grind, offering cam grinds with various profiles would sure be nice. There are few sources for aftermarket cams for the boxer engine. Surface finish as well as the steel materials would be critical. Heat treating is necessary for cam lobes....possibly carburizing or case hardening might be sufficient. You could spray up used cams and regrind the old cores to save money...this is done frequently.

How about a versatile rack system. I have fashioned My own but it's kind of crude. I want it flip forward or back to accommodate different loads. It also needs to stand up straight with a pad and it's a backrest. Would be cool if it could slide forward for driver only use. Don't look to closely, I am an electrician not a fabricator.





I am utilitarian, and always looking for a way to make My bike more useful.

johnnyjs1 seems to be a bit overwhelmed these days and was wondering if anyone else was able to make one of these?? Is there a simple way to make these myself? help?

I am joining this a bit late, but my wish item is a passenger backrest that can be mounted if you have a givi toprack plate installed.

I have a topcase with backrest, but the backrest juts out far enough to eliminate part of the seat for the pillion. I have seen backrests from RCU, Pirates Lair, etc...but all require the OEM rack. So I would be using this without the topcase in place, but the permanently mounted Givi plate is installed in place of the OEM rack. Got that?

Oh, and the givi case rack mounted into the siderail holes with adapted hardware.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already upthread, but someone in the US or Canada already makes one for the R1150GS - I'd "guesstimate" that the same part would fit the R-R. There was a link somewhere in one of the rive-shaft failure threads, or search AdvRider.com for it.
