Nancy on the R on a short ride today, did some great comparison riding the same stretch of road along with some suspension tuning on her bike.
Before I had my suspension rebuilt, I thought our bikes handled about the same.... now with fresh Ohlins and a new Ohlins damper there's no real comparison between the two BMW R bikes, 12R wins hands down for fun factor and smoothness... (8R also has Ohlins shock and fork springs to be fair) Sorry F series, you're still sexy and sound good though! .
I didn't really get a good shot of both the bikes at the same time.

Yes, they work well for riding in cold, and in cold rain.

nylife - I remember seeing that bike for sale on the internet from a shop in Arizona. I really wanted to buy it but the timing was a bit off. Interesting to see that they would rent it. Anyway, it looked like a sweet ride, so much so that when the timing was right, I ended up with something eerily similar....but I really did like the combo of plain silver and black wheels.

yes it was a nice bike for a rental, with that wrapped exhaust it looked great

The end to an extensive ride through the Smoky Mtns.

Some pics from my ride today. Headed North out of SF, spent about 8 hours on the bike. Great day - it was 70 degrees! This "summer in winter" weather is so crazy wacky, but I'm happy to keep enjoying the great riding weather while I'm waiting for the icecaps to melt and flood my neighborhood.
