Starting Issue

Post by Oilhead »

Hello, I have a 2002 R1150R. When I push the start button, I hear a click and then nothing. If I try again i hear a whine and still nothing. The whine is coming from the fuse box under the seat.
The battery is fully charged. I got a new starter relay and still the same result. I removed the starter and tested it and works fine as well.
The bike was running fine, just did a valve adjustment, started it up and ran beautifully, and I shut it off. I tried to start it a couple of days later and this happened. Any ideas? Thank you!

Can we assume you've checked all the appropriate switches? Some are kinda obvious but easy to overlook. It's in neutral, kill switch to on/run etc. On center stand with side stand up and so on.

That click noise is usually an indicator that the battery is very weak...or possibly a battery connection is not tight. Not sure about the whine under the seat. It has been a long time since I owned my black R1150R - "The Black Dominatrix".
