Can anyone confirm if Renthals/Afam handlebars are the same diameter as standard/OEM BMW handlebars please?
Thanks.

I'd also like to get a confirmation because I've been considering getting some Renthal bars.
Here's what I do know. Renthal bars are original equipment on some Japanese bikes, which means they are probably a true 22mm diameter. But I've seen them advertised as 7/8 / 22mm and 7/8 / 22.2mm. Well, one of those numbers is not entirely accurate. The .2 mm will make a difference. BMW's have 22mm bars.
Also worth noting. I tried buying a piece of 7/8" aluminum tubing to make my own straight bar. It actually worked. The controls took some effort to slide onto the bar because it was a tighter fit, and I had to spread out the aluminum clamps that hold the controls on, but once slid in place everything screwed in alright.
The bugger about the job was the front brake line. That thing has very limited movement/flexibility. For the straight bar to work I actually had to completely disconnect that section of brake line (the one running from the master cylinder) and flip it around to get the angle that I needed for it to route properly. So, your dealing with the mess of brake fluid and you have to bleed the brakes when you're done. Depending on how different the Renthal bars are compared to stock you may have issues there.

I just found this:
http://www.motomacondo.com/protaper_roadster.html
About 2/3rd's down the page it says:
# RICKY bars in the proper size sometimes proTaper but most of the time renthal "Fatbars" not Protapers since they do not fit- in the correct size and color you preffer from dark grey or black.
# Mounting hardware, bolts ,instructions. Everything except handguard mounts for the 1150GS. That some of you guy use. Is No need to change brake lines or cables on the ROADSTER but the ROCKSTER will require a longer front brake line(sorry about that, not much I can do there).
So, if the Renthal "Fatbars" fit the R1150R controls, then so will the standard 7/8" Renthal bars, because they're both listed as having 7/8" diameter for the controls area.
