Back at the Hungry Mother gettogether one evening, Cam finally asked, representing the combined group's curiosity I'm fairly sure, what exactly I did for a living. It struck me sort of funny at the time. I won't go into my answer here, but to give all my friends here a little glimpse into my other personality...You see I'm sort of a self-diagnosed schizoid...and sometimes bi-polar...
I am currently a teacher of art...for a paycheck and insurance purposes, but I may quit that any day. :-)

I've worked in an art gallery and that, my friend, is as good, or better, than most of the artwork we were selling. Seriously!

This is a pencil drawing I did...ahh...several years ago. This is my daughter with her maternal granfather. I'm safe in posting this one.
I did drawings like this all over the southeast as commission pieces, back through the 80s, until I burned out and went into picture framing. Mostly portraits of people, but there were a fair number of animals in the mix as well...dogs, cats, mules, horses... This one is 22"x30" but most were larger at around 30"x40"



I don't do those anymore. I've gone through a catharsis of sorts and have ended up at the beginning, doing some silk screening (which I was trained to do) and now back to painting with oils. The computer information age and digital photography has had a drastic effect on what I do. The fruit image is an example of only three others that are in the works. I take a picture, solarize it, blow it up on canvas and paint in the sections. You have a good eye DJ. It DOES indeed harken back to my childhood where I did those paint by number sets as long as my parents could afford them.

Judy just returned from helping my #2 grand daughter get settled in for her first semester at the Savannah (GA)School of Fine Arts.

She hopes to make her way in the Art world as well.

Put a "Boxer's Roadster" painting up for auction!

The bidding would be ferocious.

Actually I started on this one about 2 years ago with a series about the Roadster in mind. There's one more of the bike at Yellowstone that will be done eventually. The renewed interest in doing this maybe will get these two completed.
This one was somewhere in southern Arizona just off I-10. The photo was taken the summer of '03. Not much of the bike but you can still tell what it is...I think...

Okay, here's one of the first big drawings I did back in 1980. Its of no-one that I know. I just found some images and threw them together then made it into a little trompe l'oeil thing with the screen printing. heh...heh. I can remember the day I did that like it was yesterday. What fun!

I'm still blown away by this talent you possess. Did any of your kids get that gene? Are they pursuing it?

The only genes I got from my parents are the "bad luck" and the "too trusting" ones. But then, in their defense, they did not have many to spare.

Boxer....great stuff. And from a fellow teacher let me tell you that it is great to see your talents are not all hidden. There are more than a handfull of people with talents outstanding hiding amongst us. It is very cool to discover them. Thanks.

Hmmm. How come this is the first time we've been informed of this talent?

I just met Phil in person this afternoon. He was riding around Iowa checking out the places of interest pertaining to Grant Wood (the artist of my avatar).

We had lunch, visited, and I rode with him to the park where he was going to camp. I had to get to work, so we didn't have much time. Interesting guy, Interesting helmet.

Our little meeting really made me long for the day when I have the free time when I can meet more of you all...and go riding.
