Transmission fluid drain

My Clymer manual shows 2 nuts, one right above each other. The top is for filling, and the bottom for draining. However, on my bike (a 2000 model), the drain appears to be deeply recessed (like 3-4 inches) into the tranny. Am I looking at the right thing? I'll see if I can get pictures tonight if I'm not being perfectly clear. TIA

Yup, that's the drain.

The following quote is from Carl Kulow of the Internet BMW Riders website.

3. Remove the drain plug on the right side of the transmission just above the brake pedal, 8mm hex bit socket. (some R1100 transmission drain plugs are just below the fill plug, hidden up the “tunnel”, 13mm socket).

Check out their page at : http://ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/

Lots of informative links including the pdf file titled R11XX Tuneup Manual by Carl Kulow where the above quote came from.
