Milage Updates... everyone compare notes !

Todays run: 276.5 miles
Tank fill = 5.512 gallons.
Tank average MPG=50.16 mpg mixed city/highway
Bike is running smoother and smoother with the Amsoil onboard.
The computer was showing 24 miles to end of tank at the fill time.

I've had a low of 40MPG (calculated from fuel used) and a high of 55MPG. The 40 included a lot of low speed urban riding, stops, traffic lights, etc. The 55 was on a ride in West Virginia - up in the mountains, sustained 40-70MPH sweepers for an entire day.

Hi all,
Just returned from Nova Scotia and PEI. 2300 miles. Computer showed 50 MPG the whole way. And, unlike my 02 R1150RT, I used NO oil. I was really surprised by this. When I left, there were 3075 miles on the bike, so it is hardly broken in. I'm running a 20-50 partly syn. oil now.

Thats about right - Im using between 4,5 % 5.1 Liters per 100kms which is about the same as you guys are getting.

I am getting a consistant 50mpg calculated by the amount of gas I add......computer pretty much agrees.....
I tend to ride between 3500 and 4500 rpm....mostly open roads with some city.

With 2100 miles on the clock, I usually get 46 mpg (calculated) which is mostly country. On only one fill up I got 50 mpg. I can't figure out why the difference.

Still constantly at 57 mpg.
Good consistency between computer and diy calculation.
Last filled up after 525 km (= 326 miles). With some miles to go.
So probably I have an inverse tank leak.
Or maybe it is my flower-picking riding style.

Driven about 2000kms and average 4,9L/100kms = about 48mpg (US) and 58mpg (UK).
I actually managed to get 20L (5.28 US liquid or 4.4 UK liquid) in the tank the other day so I must have been close to running dry!

Not that close. You can manage to fill up to 21,5 l into that tank when on the center stand.
This is BMW's try to get noticed in the Guiness Book of Records for the biggest 18 l tank ever produced.

Hass has made a good point....there is a difference between US and EU/UK mpg ..anyone know what the conversion is?

Sure, it's 1.200949857 US gallons to 1 UK gallon, but here's a website I found that may make it easier:

With 3400 miles on the odometer and running on BMW dino oil and Shell or Chevron California premium I've been getting right around 40 mpg. I use the bike as a daily commuter (10 miles freeway each way) and as an all-day work bike in San Francisco where every intersection is controlled. My average speed is 35 mph.
On the freeway, I get around 47 mpg.
Formulation (cut with ethanol) of California's gasoline may lower mileage by about 16% and also varies from summer to winter as shown here:

Using the US gallon, I get from 45 to 50 mpg, depending upon road, wrist control, bags or bagless, etc.
