BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

Somewhere I saw where somebody posted the meaning of the LEDs and what it meant on a R1150R when certain LEDs came on. I can't seem to find my owner's manual and I've searched through this board without much success... I'm trying to find out what the universal warning triangle LED remaining lit means. I did have to rewire the tail turn signals recently when I installed some Hepco Becker bags on the 2004 1150R, and after that I noticed that the LED wouldn't extinguish after turning over the engine. However, all the bulbs work and the bike seems to work properly.

What did I screw up?

Do you have ABS? Is this perhaps the ABS light?

It does have ABS. I thought the ABS system had it's own LED... ??? This is the red LED closest to the bottom. Is that the ABS warning indicator?

Are you are talking about the universal triangle symbol with an exclamation point inside located at the bottom of your instrument cluster?

If that remains on, it means your rear brake light needs to be replaced. Replacement bulb is a 12V 21/5W.

EDIT : Just thought of one other thing you may want to try.

Turn the ignition on, don't start it, and fully open and close the throttle 3 times. Turn the ignition off. This will set the motronic unit which may help.

That is the indicator LED. But I'm puzzled. The brake light works properly...

I added a possible fix to my post above. You may want to try that. If that fails...CycleRob...PLEASE HELP!!!

One last thought on this.

You say the brake light is still working properly. BMW however designed the system to brighten the regular bulb for brake indication when the normal element fails. Your brake light is actually the back-up system brightening the normal tail light bulb/element.

I'd still try replacing the bulb with a newer one. I'll bet that's the problem and it's a purchase that won't go wasted.

I'll give it a shot. The dealership is actually only about 4 blocks away from my work. I'll stop by after work and pick up a bulb and see what happens.

And you win the prize. That's what the problem was! Replaced the tail light and the warning led went away.
