Front Fender

Has anyone replaced the "spade" front fender on their R1150R with a regular looking one? If so I would be interested in what front fenders will fit my bike. Thanks

I once put my friends Ducati front fender on my bike..
..and it looked ridiculous...There's way too much gap between it and the headlight.
The only other front fender that will fit is one off an RT or RS or maybe LT...But I recommend sticking with the original 'Beak'...even if it does look a bit funny.

Does not look too bad but there is little protection at the rear.
I will try photoshop and see what it looks like in black. I would have never of thought about using a Ducati, thanks for the inspiration

Look at the Rockster - it's basically an R1150R with the non-beak front fender. It doesn't look bad (IMO).

The Rockster looks good but it has a different light/instrument package that hangs down and angles toward the fender, giving it a totally different look at the front.

I read in a BMW Motorcycle book that the front Fender is actually a kind of a Spoiler which was designed to direct the airflow away from the fork and into the Oil cooler intake. The Oil cooler design on both sides of the Tank and the Front Fender are designed to work together. It's a first ( and last I presume) on a BMW model or any Motorcycle. The new R 1200 R does'nt have the Oil cooler at the Tank nor does it have the fender design like the 1150 R for obvious reasons.
Besides, I like the unique look of the front Fender on my R 1150 R.
Now if I only could figure out how to post pics for comparison...

When I first started looking at the R1150R I had similar thoughts about the front fender. Once I really started looked at the profile of it though, it hit home. The "Beak" matches the lines of the oil cooler scoops, tank cut-outs, and rear fender trim.
I've seen several with regular fenders and all the fender does is disrupt the natural looking flow of the bike in the profile view.
Besides you can't see it when your riding.
My best compliment came from the receptionist where I work:

I think the beak has to grow on you.
After owning my R for 6 months, I now actually like the beak. The "normal" front fenders look weird to me now.
