Jerez MotoGP '08

Post by domekrome »

I went to Jerez for the GP, and stayed at a hotel in the town of Villamartin, about 45 minutes away. The pix aren't stellar, but have a look anyway. John Hopkins almost ran me over, on a scooter, in the paddock. James Toseland strolled on by. Briefly talked with Randy Mamola at the Jerez airport, on my way to Barcelona, afterwards. Did the VIP Village, and got to see so much of the track, it was f'ing brilliant, and louder than god!

I was fortunate to be able to afford the VIP Village package for the Saturday & Sunday. The lounge that I was in, was only 100 meters behind the Start/Finish line, and I could walk 10 meters across the lounge to see a good chunk of the back half of the track, as my pictures show. It was an ideal MotoGP cherry popper for me.

The Red Bull Rookie series held races at the end of both days, and that collection of 12-16 year old riders was a blast to watch, they were dicing it up as well as the more experienced racers in the 125 class. I did see one of them highside in the last corner though, and it was a gut wrenching thing to see.

Hey, thanks for the pics....they were great. That is the closest that one can get away from being there. I was in Jerez once, passing by, not for the race. Nice place and very colorfull.

I should add that I saw the HP2 Sport alongside the BMW Safety cars, and OMG they are hot bikes!
