New member hates you all....

Post by atldinan3 »

Hahaha not really, of course. But those who posted to the R115R vs R1200R thread are a bunch of bastages as it convinced me to NOT buy the R1150R and plop down an additional $10k for the brand-spankin-new R1200R..... :-)

So this will be the worst week of my life as I can only sit around and wait and hope that the truck carrying my bike from the warehouse in Jersey to Atlanta wont get hit by a meteor or something. Next Saturday cant get here fast enough!!!

What I got was the Black w/ retro stripe model with ABS, heated grips, computer, clear signals, center stand, system cases and some windshield whose brand name I cannot remember (recommended by the dealer as its a bit taller than the OEM sportscreen and is more functional (in their opinion). BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta had everything in stock EXCEPT a bike with the stripe so now I have to wait a week (insert nailbiting sound effect here).

A little about me: I am a 10yr driver of BMW 3'ers, my longtime love being the '97-'98 M3 Sedans. I've always been a jap bike owner but my deep respect for BMW engineering finally brought me into the Beemer fold. And just in case anyone is wondering about my screen name, its my standard name from all the BMW forums (easier for me to remember a standard name).

I've been reading this forum for a few days now and am very impressed. I'm happy to be a new member of the family and look forward to *meeting* you all. My first (and last (for a while)) mod will be to change out the sewing machine sounding stock exhaust. I'm in the process of reading everyone's reviews in prior posts, but if anyone happens to know of a current killer deals please let me know.

Cheers

Congrats on the new ride, you'll be spoiled. I Have met the guys at BMW of Atlanta and they seem to be a bunch of great guys. Bobby put up with at least half a dozen tire kicking calls before I bought a bike elsewhere. When I had the opportunity to stop by on a business trip and buy a T shirt he was a total class guy. I think you'll get good support there. Have fun with the new rig

I can't believe how easy the R1200 is to ride. I detailed the R11 this afternoon. Went for a ride in the hills around here. Compared to the R the S is a hard bike to ride. Darn near dropped the R11 as the center of gravity and the lower narrower bars provided momentum without the leverage the 12 gives me. The S is a fine bike, but the R just does everything better for me. Yikes, the S vibrates a lot above 4 grand.

You are gonna like your new purchase. Congrats!!

What he said. I was never unhappy with the stock exhaust. Maybe something carbon fibre but I would rather pass in and out of deputy Dan's neigborhood unnoticed.
