I am a new Rock owner. I assumed adding a luggage rack and top case would be a matter of just picking our what looks and works best...wrong. for whatever reason my used rockster does not have the typical side case mounting bar. it seems to be missing the grab bars and more importantly the holes for mounting a luggage rack and top case. Does anyone know the work around for this glitch? I will post a picture of the side case mounting bar later.

thanks,
Adam, Chicago, IL

The system case rails on your Rockster are the ones from the R1100/1150GS. They fit but, as you discovered, do not take the luggage rack. Best solution is to trade for a set matched to the R1150R that includes the luggage rack. Other alternatives in the aftermarket exist.

thanks,

went to the dealer and had to order the r style rails and luggage rack...200 bucks with hardware. My bike had the gs mounts for some reason. the last guy who had the bike probably got them used. Now I just have to decide on a top case and backrest for the wife.

thanks again.

JC Whitney has a decent topcase. Its big enough to hold a full face helmet with room to spare. It includes the mounting rack and hardware. There is a special code you can use on the website that lets you get the case for $47.99(reg. $89) and if you spend $50 theres another code for free shipping. I just got a topcase, and 2 bungee nets for $54 shipped!! Cant beat the price, and the case is pretty good too.
