R1150r Starter Motor Servicing

Has anyone ever grappled with the R1150r starter motor? Any adbvice or do'e and don't more than welcome.
It looks simple enough, (oh why did I say that....), but you never know.

The problem is that I intermittently get a "kerrr-chinnng" from the starter motor, after the motor has started.
Probably just needs re-greasing or something.

Any help gratefully welcomed!
