Cold starting

Does anyone know if there is a cold start circuit on the 1150R. Mine does not want to fire in the morning. It takes quite a bit of cranking to get it going. After the bike is warm it fires up right away. All other operations are normal. Any information would be welcome.

I presume that you are using the "choke" by the left grip....two positions, the first about half way up, has a stop, the second position, up from the first position is spring loaded and must be held to start a cold engine.
I pose the question because you don't make any mention of it on your post.

Ahhh the tricky hold it up switch. No I was appearently just going to the first position. Thanks.

When cold out, mine seems to need a little throttle to get it to start.

A battery tender and new plugs make a very positive difference on cold mornings.

Dont forget your oil is thicker when cold and therefore takes more cranking power to turn over the engine. With temps in the 30'sF or lower I have had good luck warming the oil with a trouble light sitting near the oil pan for an hour or so before my ride.
