What GPS mounts are you using on the Rockster? Mine in stock and I was looking at purchasing a used unit -- saw some decent prices on a few sites. Any tips on running the cable to the accessory socket and keeping it secure while riding.

Touratech makes a "lockable" cradle, but I've found the standard model to be more than adequate. (I've got a Garmin 276C).

How is yours powered? Hard wired or plug into the accessory socket at each use?

The 276C is battery powered. I don't need to plug it in.

However, if the need arises, I added an accessory outlet (okay, I had one of the dealer techs do it) on my bars, so I can plug it in.

rbertalotto: What is holding the GPS itself? Is it the plastic Garmin mount?

This is my 276C in the touratech mount on my Rockster's bars. The Touratech is attached to the bike via a RAM ball mount. Nice thing about the Touratech is that it "encloses" the GPS. No chance of it popping out, on an unexpectedly hard bump, and hitting pavement (like a friend's did).



There's a locking mount available, but I haven't seen the need.

Yes, The Garmin Motorcycle mount is being used. I wouldn't use it on off road, for that I have a Touratech mount. But for road use, on three bikes, the Garmin mount is fine.

Just did the same set up for my Garmin 765T.

I used the "Mini USB Battery Harness" PPC-015-DB

NOTE: I chose this power set up because they're a well know company & the harness has an in-line voltage regulator & fuse.
(Really didn't want to "ZAP" my $450 GPS!)

So far the set up is working awesome.. Just can't see the screen too well in bright sun!
