Does anybody know how often a aftermarket slip on exhaust has to be re-packed? In my case it is a Akrapovic slip on exhaust.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

No answers so I'll give you an almost answer. I have a muffler that needs an occasional repacking on another bike (/5). usually I repack when it gets so loud that Harley riders complement me for my bike being so loud. Usually this is around 5K. I guess you could pull the baffle out every now and then and see where the fiberglass packing is, if it's gone, or all packed up around the back of the muffler then it's time to repack, after a while you'll figure out how many miles that is. The aftermarket muffler I put on my R1200 doesn't need repacking and that's one of the main reasons I bought it.

I've got a Neptune muffler on my ride and it seemed to be getting a lot louder. Some of the dill weeds over at ADV.whateveritis.com were saying that Neptune mufflers never need repacking. I couldn't figure why that would be since I could shine a light down the chute and see a perforated core. My dirt bike past kept telling me there wasn't any reason to think it wouldn't need repacking. So today I drilled out the rivets and pulled out the core. Sure enough it was a "packed" muffler just like a dirt bike. And at least half the packing was gone so I repacked it with some Performax stuff(long gone brand of silencer hair) that I got for free at DirtWeek a few years back. What was my point? Well I can't remember so never mind. 8-[
