after these pictures I installed a set of Bitubo shocks.....what a difference!!!

The bike was ~ 50 pounds lighter than when I bought it.

Can you name who rode it last?

Can you name who touched it last and took pics of some of the mods, other than me in both instances.

Most of this will be guessing as far as the proper names but here goes:

Ceramic coated pipes
No air box/different style of air filters
Givi A46 screen
Dual headlamps from a K series?
Painted plugs covers
No cat and aftermarket exhaust
Mirrors
Black paint treatment on the starter cover
Re-located turn signals (shorter and don't appear to be stock)
Air Horn

What was the fuelling like with those pod filters??

Was the mileage down? if so - by how much? (I can currently get 170 - 180 miles from a tankful).

Interesting air cleaner mod!

How did you do the work around for the air sensor that was originally in the factory air filter box? Was it an improvement? Is there a "How To" link available?

Also, where did you pick up those trick mirrors?

Inquiring minds what to know.

Nicely done for a first pass.....

Jet-Hot coated pipes....I had them blue before, at the time of BBI, but didn't last long.

Actually is a Givi A 750 glassed to fit the dual lamps, which I purchased from a former poster from TX, that had his ride painted the color of his 2000 Corvette. The bike was posted in this forum several years back.

The twin lights are readily available on the net and with minor mods fit nicely in the place of the OEM.

The can at the time was a SS 2.5" version from a 1200 Buel and although it had a mellower sound, I went back to the TBR aluminum which I painted black, because it was several pounds lighter.

The mirrors are Napoleon bar ends, I have always swapped my bike mirrors for those, they can't be beat for rear view. I got those from Pat when he sold his R to buy the Triumph triple.

Nice catch on the starter cover, the silver color just didn't do it for me.

The turn signals are minis with an 1157 bulb, so they were both turn signals and running lights.....they are in the same location as stock.

Good catch on the air horns too.....that was of my price accomplishments cost me $13 at Chicago Tools and they were fierce as some will attest.

I'm going to give you credit for 11 out of 13.....great job.....

I ride on the agressive side, run through the gears, don't short shift or lug the engine. My friends would classify me as marketing size.....weightwise that is.

Once the bike was broken in at around 4500 miles, no oil consumption. I started fooling around with external mods my mileage never changed much from 42 to 46 mpg, whith 44 being almost like clockwork.

Originally I was going to replace the sensor with a fixed resistor that would fake the ECU into believing that the air temperature was 55F so the A/F mixtre would be a touch richer.

I did take the time and effort with the sensor out to plot resistance vs. temperature and plotted the results. I posted thse results and still have the plot if anyone is interested. The problem was that I needd more fuel and then decided to go with the 3.5 Bar pressure regulator....but I digress.

I left the orignal sensor in place and tie wraped it to the inside of the left frame tube just behind the tank, exposed to the ambient air but shielded from the sun.

The mirrors are Napoleons and can be bought at any motorcycle store,l you need a longer screw (Lowes/Home depot) and use the same holder as the bar ends. They used to go for about $30 and the glass is slightly convex so it gives you a great rear view. In my other bikes I only used one on the left side and suited me fine.

Sorry, but she is no longer with us as I sold it May 07 based on a Tokyo return assignment, which was pushed back and then fizzled out. But she and I had the good fortune to make BBI and BBII. She is happily resting in North Louisiana as I understand.

Not a Rockster wheel, but my hat off to you......excellent power of observation as you both saw the last two items. Interestingly enough a while back Keith stopped selling the caps, if memory serves, I think it was a pseudo copyright issue. He is still around but don't know if he is selling them still.

About lighting....is there any difference (for better or worse) in terms of illuminating the roadway, between the single and double lights ?

I have followed the progression of your motorcycle over the years and I am at the point where I am interested in the 3.5 Bar fuel pressure regulator. From your previous post, I know that you acquired it from a K bike but to be honest I don't know what it is or includes.

The black box on the side of the left intake manifold?
Fuel injectors?
Something under the tank?

Do you remember the cost?
Source?

So you understand my reasoning and perhaps provide some insight here is a list of mods to date:

Rhinewest chip
Y Pipe
Aftermarket Exhaust
No Airbox..Kept air tubes and attached small cone filters to the end.

On a side note, I also tied the input temperature sensor up and out of the way. I am looking at the fuel pressure regulator to correct the lean condition at high throttle. What did you do with the vent tube coming off of the case that connects into the bottom right corner of the airfilter box?

The 3.5 Bar FPR comes from the previous gen of K bikes, the model that bowed out around 2004. I got it from Chicago BMW and paid $36, it is the best mod that can be had for the price, other than the Autolite plugs and the 3 degree advance.

Check the FPR and the lines, left side of the picture would be the right side of the engine, the other pics show the clip that holds it in place and the 3.0 and 3.5 side by side.

The crankcase vent I ran up in the direction of the steering head, didn't cut anything and added a small filter/breather that would fit the 1/2" hose. Make sure it is to the inside of the hoses, against the head to eliminate interference with the tank. See below.

That black can looks sweet with the black pipes. Thought I'd throw that out there.

And now that I look at it, I see that cable is attached to the choke. Now I have to out and look for mine to see if I'm just crazy.
